Errol Spence can only beat Pacquiao if he lands a lucky punch, predicts Donaire Sr.

By JM SIASAT

Renowned Filipino boxing coach Nonito Donaire Sr. is confident that Manny Pacquiao will beat WBC and IBF world welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. when they meet inside the ring on August 21 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

"Spence's advantage is his age and he also has power. Pacquiao, on the other hand, is fast and strong. I have experienced what it is like to hold the mitts for him and his punches really hurt. Pacquiao is a different, I think he hits harder than Spence," Donaire Sr. said.

Pacquiao, 42, has not seen action atop the ring since July 2019 when he defeated Keith Thurman. The Filipino boxing icon is seen as an underdog in his upcoming fight, but Donaire Sr. is convinced that Pacquiao will win the bout be it via knockout or decision.

"He can only lose if he gets caught with a lucky punch," he said.

"Spence is a slow starter, he is like diesel he gets better as the rounds go on. Manny is gas, he is fast from the beginning so the first six rounds would go to Pacquiao. Spence is tough, but if Pacquiao cannot get the knockout in the first six rounds, he would still win by decision."
