John Dato suffers first career loss against Mexican Angel Contreras in Pacquiao-Ugas undercard

Filipino boxer John Dato suffered his first career loss after Mexican boxer Angel Contreras won in an eight-round featherweight match Sunday (Manila time).

Contreras won via unanimous decision, with one judge giving the Mexican boxer 78-73, and the two other judges giving 77-74.

Prior to the loss, Dato held a record of 16 wins and one draw with 11 knockouts.

Dato-Contreras is one of the undercard matches for the main event of Manny Pacquiao and Yordenis Ugas fighting for the WBA welterweight super title.

Later, Filipino boxer Mark Magsayo will go against Mexico's Julio Ceja in the WBC featherweight title eliminator.
