Is it time to retire? Will he run for president? Manny Pacquiao says 'let me rest first' before making decision

After an upset loss to Yordenis Ugas of Cuba in a WBA welterweight title bout on Sunday, the natural questions posed to Manny Pacquiao were: is it time to hang his boxing gloves up for good? And will he run for president?

Pacquiao, though, wants a little bit of time and perspective before he makes a decision.

"I don’t know. I don't know," Pacquiao quickly answered when asked if his latest loss would be his last.

"Let me rest first and relax and make a decision if I’ll continue to fight."

As for his other future plans, particularly, whether he was going to run for president?

"I will make an announcement next month," Pacquiao said.

The 42-year old Pacquiao's defeat came in the 72nd match of his legendary career. He accumulated 62 wins and 39 knockouts in that span to emerge as one of the most decorated fighters in the world. His latest loss is only the eighth of his career.

As an amateur, he also won 60 bouts and lost four.

Pacquiao is also the only eight-division world champion in the rich history of sports after having captured 12 major world titles in eight different weight divisions.

He, however, was stripped off of the welterweight title due to inactivity as the WBA designated him "champion in recess".

He was supposed to challenge Errol Spence Jr. but the American fighter pulled out of the fight after suffering an eye injury.

Ugas, who holds the championship that Pacquiao was stripped of, stepped in as a replacement.

But as to whether we have seen the last of the Filipino boxing icon in the ring, that remains to be seen, at least for now.
