Dana White leaves door slightly open for Conor McGregor vs. Jake Paul

By JM SIASAT

UFC President Dana White does not think that a fight between MMA superstar Conor McGregor and YouTuber Jake Paul should happen but he nevertheless left the door open for a possible showdown.

"Probably not [but] I am never completely closed off to anything. I used to say that about things but I do not say that anymore because you never know what could happen," White said in an interview with Impaulsive.

White was instrumental in making the fight happen between five-division boxing champion Floyd Mayweather and the Irish two-division champion McGregor in 2017. The showdown turned out to be one of the most lucrative fights of all time but only because fans wanted to see it, White said.

As far as White is concerned, Jake Paul, who holds a record of 5-0 with four knockouts as a professional boxer, has no business in the ring with his prizefighter.

"He should not even be fighting McGregor. These guys are huge. What is your brother 6'1, 210 pounds? McGregor 145 to 155 pounds. There are weight classes for a reason."

Shortly after the interview, Paul, who repeatedly called out McGregor in the past, wrote a tweet directed at White saying that he is willing to make a drastic weight cut just so the fight can come to fruition.

"Dana White is begging for Diaz and Conor to fight for a third time... they have fought at 170 pounds in both their fights. I will fight Conor at 175 pounds, no problem. Stop making excuses p******."
