Donaire vs. Inoue 2 done deal for June 7

By JM SIASAT

The highly-anticipated second encounter between WBC world bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire Jr. and Japanese superstar Naoya Inoue is a done deal for June 7 at the Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

The 28-year-old Inoue, who holds The RING, IBF, and WBA world bantamweight titles, locked horns with the Filipino superstar three years ago where he emerged victorious via unanimous decision in a fight touted by experts as the 2019 Fight of the Year.

Donaire (41-6, 28KOs) has rebounded since that fateful night in Japan, as he captured the WBC world bantamweight title in his next fight via knockout against Nordine Oubaali then successfully defended it against his fellow Filipino Reymar Gaballo.

Inoue, for his part, has remained unbeaten since then, winning three of his next fights by stoppages including one against Pinoy boxer Michael Dasmarinas in June 2021. He has improved his perfect record to 22-0 with 19 knockouts.
