Canelo raring for a rematch after falling short vs Bivol

By JM SIASAT

Undisputed middleweight world champion and pound-for-pound superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is raring for a second fight with WBA world light heavyweight world champion Dmitry Bivol after losing to the latter on Sunday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Alvarez, 31, moved up to the 175-pound division to face Bivol for the WBA world title but fell short via unanimous decision. It was the first time he lost a fight in almost nine years as his record fell to 57-2-2 with 39 knockouts while Bivol stayed unbeaten and improved to 20-0 with 11 knockouts.

"Yes, we want it. We want a rematch and we are going to do much better in the rematch. You have to give credit to Bivol. He is a very difficult fighter to hit around the head area. You have to give him credit," Alvarez said after the fight.

"Pride keeps me going, that motivation to want to continue fighting is what spurs me on. Nobody wants to see fights where people know who is going to win. It is about those 50-50 fights, that is what people want to see."

Furthermore, the Mexican superstar admitted that he is at his best in the super middleweight division. Though he fell short in his light heavyweight world title attempt, he is nevertheless proud of his performance atop the ring.

"I feel like I can come out of this fight with my head held high because I gave the best of me in a different weight class. I am looking for challenges, challenges in my career that take me out of my comfort zone. I am proud and I am feeling good," Alvarez said.
