Manny Pacquiao shoots down prospect of Mayweather rematch

By JM SIASAT

Retired eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao does not see himself getting another fight with his rival Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the near future.

Pacquiao, who is set to face DK Yoo in an exhibition this December, fought Mayweather in 2015 where he lost by way of unanimous decision. The bout between the pair was the biggest and richest boxing event in history, having sold 4.6 million pay-per-views.

“The Mayweather vs. Pacquiao 2 is not going to happen unless we both decide to make a comeback. The two of us, our mindset is retired. We just want to do exhibitions and charity events to help people,” said Pacquiao.

The 43-year-old Pacquiao retired last year after he lost to Yordenis Ugas and before he announced his candidacy for President. According to the Filipino ring icon, he is open to doing exhibitions to fulfill his advocacy of giving free housing and helping people in need.

“My mind is set on retirement. This event (DK Yoo exhibition) I am doing this to help our poor countrymen. I want to give them homes,” Pacquiao stated.

“I cannot do it all but somehow I want to do it little by little. I have given thousands of free housing, and as long as my body can still make money to help I will keep doing it.”
