Purefoods Giants beat Red Bull Barakos, 90-83, to bag PBA cup
The Purefoods Chunkee Giants bagged the Gran Matador Brandy PBA Philippine Cup Finals, beating the Red Bull Barakos, 90- 83, in a hotly contested Game 6 at the Araneta Coliseum on Friday night. The Alaska Aces got into second place by edging out the San Miguel Beermen, 102-95, in their July 5 match also at the Big Dome. The Barakos had high hopes to even the 3-2 score in the best of seven series, having upset the Giants with a score of 98-93 in Game 5 on Wednesday. But the Giants stubbornly refused to give their opponents any slack, letting the Barakos score only 4 points in the last two-minutes of the game, with the score standing at 86-79. Purefoods chief Ryab Gregorio became the first coach to have won two championships. It was under his guidance that Purefoods also won the 2002 Governors Cup with a 4-3 series victory over the Alaska Aces. - GMANews.TV
