MANILA, Philippines - Burger King debuted in the 2009 Motolite PBA Fiesta Conference in grand fashion as the Titans crushed the Sta. Lucia Realtors, 96-87, Saturday in the import-flavored tournamentâs opener at the Lamberto Macias Sports Complex in Dumaguete City. The Titans overhauled a nine-point deficit with a third quarter explosion spearheaded by Wynne Arboleda, Marvin Cruz and Gary David to take the lead for good and notch their first win in the league. David paced Burger King with 16 points plus three assists and a block even as import Shawn Daniels provided a solid presence all throughout to give Burger King a good start. The Titans created the most buzz during the conference break. Previously carrying the Air21 Express brand, the franchise changed its name and underwent a major facelift in personnel, taking in national coach Yeng Guiao and trading away veteran Don Allado and young players KG Canaleta, Doug Kramer and JC Intal in exchange for big men Beau Belga and Chad Alonzo and future picks.
