Gabe Norwood wants Rain or Shineâs game to improve with him.
"The biggest thing is getting back-to-back wins. Weâre just trying to get better every time. Weâre playing with a lot of confidence right now and thatâs good," said Norwood, after the Elasto Paintersâ 90-82 win over the slumping Barako Energy Coffee Masters Sunday night. Norwoodâs exploits in RoSâ last two games in the PBA Fiesta Cup earned him the Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week honors from the period of March 29 to April 4. The shifty 6-foot-6 guard/small forward out of George Mason University helped the Painters notch its second straight win as they join defending champion San Miguel and Barangay Ginebra at second place with similar 2-1 slates behind the 3-1 card of the league-leading Coca-Cola Tigers.

RoSâ 2-1 card is a big improvement from its 0-6 start in the Philippine Cup with the 2008-09 Rookie of the Year one of the major contributors in the Paintersâ sudden rise. Norwood scored 15 points, grabbed nine rebounds and issued seven assists during the Paintersâ game against the Energy Coffee Masters. Submitting those numbers increased Norwoodâs averages early in the tournament to 16.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists as the 25-year-old is enjoying his finest start in a conference. "Gabe has been doing a great job defensively, which is translating into good offense for him," said RoS coach Caloy Garcia. âHe is truly stepping up at both ends of the floor." â GMANews.TV
