UAAP 74: La Salle foils NU's bid for badminton sweep
De La Salle University foiled National U's bid of completing an elimination round sweep in the UAAP men's badminton tournament as the Green Archers scored a 3-2 win over the Bulldogs Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Badminton Hall. La Salle tied its victims' win-loss record at 6-1 with both teams claiming the top two spots. JC Clarito snatched the tie for the Green Archers after a 28-26, 17-21, 21-18 triumph over Aries Delos Santos in the deciding singles. Far Eastern U and Ateneo are tied for third and fourth spots with 5-2 slates after scoring similar 5-0 shutout wins against Adamson and deposed champion University of Santo Tomas, respectively. The top-seeded Green Archers clash with the No. 4 Blue Eagles while the second-ranked Bulldogs take on No. 4 Tamaraws in the Final Four on September 10. The finals will be played on September 17. UST finished the season with only two wins in its seven games. University of the Philippines edged University of the East, 3-2, in the other tie. - JVP, GMA News
