NCAA: Letran Knights knock CSB Blazers out from Final Four race
Letran College foiled College of St. Benilde's comeback bid in the fourth period to runaway with a 72-60 victory Monday in the second round of the 87th NCAA basketball tournament. With the victory, the Knights eliminated the Blazers from the Final Four contention while improving their slate to 14 wins and 3 losses. The Knights were off to a hot start, posting a 15-3 lead but went erratic in the third where they lost their nine-point lead at the half (28-19). CSB had their first and last taste of the lead at 37-36 after two free throws from Alison Carlos with still 4:16 in the third canto. In the final period, the Blazers managed to threaten the Knights anew twice, the last time at 60-66, with still, 1:25 left after a basket by Juan Taha. Kevin Alas paced the Knights with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists while Taha toprscored for the Blazers with 18 markers and 11 rebounds. - OMG, GMA News
