Game starts at 2pm. Page auto-refreshes every 30 seconds. The Far Eastern University Tamaraws will be looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season, while the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons will shoot for their first victory, Sunday at 2pm, in the 75th season of the UAAP. FEU (4-1) figured in three tight affairs early in the season, winning versus UST, La Salle and Adamson by a grand total of six points. But they were unable to conjure up that same late-game poise versus NU last Thursday. Entering the fourth period up by a point, 47-46, FEU made just 4-of-17 from the field in the last 10 minutes, launching 12 triple tries and converting on a measly one. They also took five charities but made only one as well, with the result being their first loss of the season, 57-61. The Tams will also need to get RR Garcia going. The former league MVP played 33 minutes but produced just five points, hitting 2-of-13 from the field. In fact, versus NU, only Terrence Romeo hit double-digits when the dust settled. Head coach Bert Flores will likely demand better ball-sharing, as big men like Arvie Bringas and Anthony Hargrove deserve touches and can help with the team's floor spacing. UP (0-4) on the other hand, came close to upsetting the reigning champions Ateneo, leading by eight, 40-32 after the first half, as their defense held Ateneo to a 12-of-35 outing, including 0-for-6 from downtown. It didn't last though, as Ateneo stormed back, shooting 58.8 percent from the field in the third period, a quarter that saw them outscore the Maroons 29-17. Then in the fourth, despite nearly tripling the amount of looks Ateneo took at the basket, 19 to 7, courtesy of eight offensive rebounds, UP was unable to get back on top, falling 70-76. Rookie center Chris Ball shot the ball extremely well early on, scoring 11 points and pulling down six rebounds, but in the seven minutes he played in the second half, he could only contribute one more rebound and no points. He could be in line for more playing time though, as he'll be a good match-up versus the aforementioned Hargrove. Making this game interesting is the fact that UP managed to upset FEU in Season 74, as one of their two victories of the season. No doubt, head coach Bert Flores will hang that over his team's heads as a reminder not to take any foe lightly. - AMD, GMA News Season 74 history lesson
