Gallery: UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2012
Even before the UAAP Cheerdance Competition saw its first routine at the SM MOA Arena, the crowd was already having their own personal contest - to see who could cheer the loudest. Fans of the University of the Philippines started the skirmish with their maroon and green cards as they shouted, "Freedom!" Those supporting Far Eastern University then snapped back with their own cheers, while National University students also join the battle of the bleachers. UP, FEU, and NU, respectively, also grabbed the first, second, and third places in the competition's cheerdance and stunting categories. That said, those weren't easy results to arrive at, as the University of Santo Tomas, De La Salle University, Ateneo de Manila University, University of the East, and Adamson University all had their stunning moments. Held usually towards the end of the men's seniors division basketball season, the UAAP Cheerdance Competition has been a welcome intermission from the hoops action, as performers usually stuck to halftime numbers get an entire afternoon to battle for floor supremacy, and more importantly, make their schools proud. Here are some scenes from Saturday's Cheerdance Competition action, when the cheerleaders became the ones cheered on. - AMD/RAF, GMA News
