Go USTe! University of Santo Tomas overall champion of UAAP Season 77


University of Santo Tomas has reclaimed the overall championship in the UAAP at the close of Season 77, besting defending champion De La Salle University.
 
The Growling Tigers scored a total of 285 points in the tally, finishing ahead of the Green Archers with 279 points to bag their 40th overall title in the seniors' division.
 
UST finished the season with five championships, winning in Women's Beach Volleyball, Men's Taekwondo, Men's and Women's Judo, and Women's Athletics. They were also runners-up in five events - Men's Beach Volleyball, Men's and Women's Tennis, and Men's and Women's Fencing.
 
La Salle, meanwhile, notched three titles - Men's and Women's Table Tennis and Men's Chess. The Archers also finished as runners-up in nine events but these were not enough to retain their title.
 
University of the Philippines came in third with 236 points, while Ateneo de Manila University ranked fourth with 216 points.
 
Completing the cast were Far Eastern University at fifth place, National University at sixth, host school University of the East at seventh, and Adamson University at eighth. —JST, GMA News
