Filipino fighters have earned the reputation devastating punchers, a reputation that undefeated Australian world champion Michael Katsdis takes seriously. That's why he has nothing but high regards for Czar Amonsot, whom he will meet on July 21 for the Aussie's interim World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight crown. The fight, the Australian's first title defense, is scheduled as one of the undercards in the Bernard Hopkins-Winky Wright faceoff, dubbed Coming to Fight, at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. "I'm really looking forward to fighting Czar," Katsidis told www.philboxing.com in an interview. "I expect on the night Czar will be very tough and may the best man win." The 26-year-old Australiam pugilist from Toowoomba, Queensland, holds a win-loss-draw card of 22-0-0 (with 20 knockouts ). Amonsot is going to the fight with 8-2-1 (10 KOs) card and has trained at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles following weeks of preparation at the ALA Gym in Cebu. "I enjoyed having been able to associate myself with many Filipino people where I'm from in Australia and the pleasure of also being able to work in the gym as they are the hardest of fighters," Katsidis said. Katsidis added that he has been training hard for the fight. "Over time my training is something I have worked to perfection," Katsidis said. "One thing all this assures is that on the night of the fight I will be hardened and conditioned to work under the hardest of conditions as I believe that alot of the challenge happens in the mind." - GMANews.TV
