The Ateneo de Manila (ADMU) Lady Eagles captured on Saturday afternoon the 70th UAAP Women's basketball crown after a heart-stopping 62-58 victory over the University of the Philippines (UP) Lady Maroons in Game 2 of their championship showdown before a packed crowd at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila. Spitfire guard Kat Quimpo was named best player in the championship game after she scored 10 points, grabbed two rebounds, issued two assist and had three steals to help her team pull off the hard-earned victory. Tower-of-Power Casey Tioseco, the reigning 2007 MVP, was again dominating after she posted a double-double of 13 points and 16 rebounds. She was also a terror in the defensive side after registering four block shots. The series sweep gave the Lady Blue Eagles their second crown. The team, it was recalled, won the title in 2005. - GMANews.TV
