apl.de.ap of The Black Eyed Peas to perform at 30th SEA Games

World-renowned entertainer and member of hip-hop group The Black Eyed Peas apl.de.ap is performing at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 30th Southeast Asian Games to be held in the Philippines.

apl.de.ap, whose real name is Allan Pineda Lindo, on Tuesday signed a pledge witnessed no less than Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) chair and House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano to seal his participation in the events at the SEA Games.

According to the pledge, apl.de.ap would take part in the torch relay in the New Clark City and perform at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 30th SEA Games.

In a press conference following the signing of the pledge, apl.de.ap thanked PHISGOC for considering him as part of what he called a "momentous" and "prestigious" event.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world. I was born in Sapang Bato, Angeles, Pampanga and we have a brand new stadium there that I'm proud of and I can't wait to perform and do the closing ceremony. I'm just really proud to be part of this event. Maraming salamat po," he said.

apl.de.ap said he is joining the events at the SEA Games as he wants to share his talent and any help he can provide for the success of the gathering.

He even teased the other members of The Black Eyed Peas will be performing with him.

"Yes, they will be here. We've been talking about the production. We're going to do something special for the closing with the whole band," he said.

"We've done a lot of sporting events but this is one of the most important for me because I'm proud of being Pinoy and it's in my hometown. I can't wait to deliver," he added.

apl.de.ap was born in Angeles City, Pampanga to an African-American father and Filipina mother. He then moved to the United States during his teenage years and eventually started a group which would later be known as The Black Eyed Peas.

The Black Eyed Peas is known worldwide for their hit songs "Where is the Love?", "I Gotta Feeling", and "Boom Boom Pow".
