The Philippine team dumped 31 runs on Friday against Malaysia, its first opponent in the six-team roundrobin baseball tournament at the 24th Southeast Asian Games. The Filipinos chalked up their 31 runs in 21 hits in five innings – 4-5-9-10-3. The Philippine baseball team, which is managed by Hector Navasero is composed of Darwin dela Calzada (pitcher), Junnifer Pinero (catcher), Alejandro Velasquez (first base), Ruben Angeles (second base), Christian Canlas (shortstop), Nino Tator (third base), Roel Empacis (left field), Jonash Ponce (center field), Roel Empacis (right field), and Virgilio Roxas (designated hitter). The coaching staff is composed of Eladio Baradas, Ricardo Jimenez, Catalino Leron III, Edgar delos Reyes.
