RP ups gold medals to 14 but drops to 4th at SEA Games

(Update 2 - 8:16 p.m.) The Philippines got two more gold medals by Saturday evening for a total of 14 so far at the 24th Asean Games, but it dropped back to fourth, dislodged by Singapore whose athletes bagged a total of 16 gold medals. In all, the Filipino athletes reaped 11 victories on Saturday – one in rowing, one in billiards, one in swimming, two in fencing, two in dance sports, four in athletics – to boost the Philippines' gold collection from three medals as of Friday to 14 as of Saturday. The Philippines' other gold medals were earned before Saturday by Ryan Arabejo in men’s 200-meter-backstroke, Miguel Molina in the 400-meter individual swimming medley, and Joey Barba in the men’s downhill cycling.
