The Magnolia Beverage Masters scored their first win in three outings after defeating the Alaska Aces, 89-81, in the second Friday game of the 2008 Smart-PBA Fiesta Conference at the Araneta Coliseum. As a result of their victory, Magnolia, beaten by Purefoods Tender Juicy and Sta. Lucia Realty in its first two outings in the season-ending tourney, caught up with Alaska Milk and Air21 at 1-2 in the standings. Old Magnolia mainstays Olsen Racela and Danny Seigle showed the way in the scoring department for their team with both firing 18 points apiece. Import Jameel Watkins, on the other hand, produced only 11 points and six rebounds but provided the Beverage Masters the defensive presence they needed to beat the Aces. Newly acquired Mike Cortez, formerly of the Aces, spared Racela for 24 minutes, making seven points and three assists. The Aces was led by reinforcement Randy Holcomb with his 20 points and 18 rebounds. Former Beverage Masters point-guard LA Tenorio, acquired by Alaska in exchange for Cortez contributed 11 points, seven assists and six rebounds in 32 minutes of action. - GMANews.TV
