Global keeps unbeaten slate with Kaya win

Global FC solidified their grasp on the top spot of the standings after beating Kaya FC, 3-0, in their clash in the United Football League (UFL) 2016 season held at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on Sunday.

Global remained unbeaten in five games for a total of 15 points to take the number one seed while Kaya dropped to the fourth spot with three wins and two losses.

The men in blue and yellow immediately took control of the match-up as Cameroonian wing-back Serge Kaole found the back of the net in the eight minute.

On the other hand, Kaya sent counter-strikes to the territory of their opponents but were unable to find a goal of their own as Global took a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Global returned to action for the second half on the positive note with Hikaru Minegishi doubling their advantage to 2-0 in the 48th minute off a steal following a defensive mishap on Kaya’s backline.

Things took a turn for the worse the Kaya FC towards the dying minutes of the contest as veteran center-back Masanari Omura accidently sank the ball in his own goal in the 84th minute.

Global were aggressive on their attacks with 23 total shots on goal, eight of which were on target, while Kaya only had nine shots that hit its marker. — APG, GMA News
