United City concludes AFC Champions League campaign with 4-0 loss to Daegu

The United City FC was denied a strong ending to its AFC Champions League campaign after absorbing another loss on Sunday night (Manila time).

The Philippine representative was shut down against  South Korea's Daegu by a whopping 4-0 margin in the group stage match held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

 

 

The loss ultimately put an end to United City's campaign in the prestigious tournament where elite clubs from all over Asia are seeing action.

United City FC was coming off a 3-2 victory over Beijing FC, the first ever by a Filipino team in the history of the AFC Champions League. They had also battled Beijing to a 1-1 draw earlier in the tournament to score its first points in the Group I table.

The Filipinos will finish in the third spot in the group with four points while the Korean side is in second place with 12 points. Kawasaki is at the top spot with 18 points and Beijing Guoan is at the cellar with only a point.

Earlier in the day, another Filipino team, Kaya FC, fell short against Viettel FC of Vietnam, 1-0, to cap off a winless run.
