Cambodia downs Philippines in AFF U-23 Youth Championship

A late goal from Cambodia downed the Philippines, 1-0, in the group stage of the AFF U-23 Youth Championship held in Phnom Penh on Thursday.

Sin Sovannmakara made the only goal of the game at the 81' mark to give the host country their second win in the group stage, following a 6-0 demolition of Brunei last Monday.

This is the Philippines' first loss in the tournament following a 2-2 draw against Timor-Leste last Monday

With the loss, the Philippines went down to the third spot of the Group A rankings, trailing behind host country Cambodia, and Timor-Leste. The top team in Group A at the end of the group stage will proceed to the semifinals.

The Philippines will try to bounce back on Sunday against Brunei who has two losses in the tournament. -- BAP, GMA News
