Skipper Stephan Schrock parts ways with United City FC

Team captain and multiple Philippines Football League (PFL) champion Stephan Schrock is parting ways with the United City FC, the club announced on Friday night.

In social media posts, United City said the two camps mutually agreed on an early termination of Schrock's contract.

"UCFC would like to announce the departure of Captain Stephan Schroeck after mutually agreeing on an early termination of his contract," it said in a Twitter post.

The 35-year-old Schrock has been a pillar for United City since its days as Ceres Negros. He helped the franchise claim four titles in the local pro league while also skippering the club in various international competitions like the AFC Cup.

With United City, Schrock, a member of the Philippine Azkals, was able to nail multiple individual accolades like the PFL Golden Ball in 2019 and 2020.

"Stephan has been instrumental in UCFC's winning of the 2020 Philippines Football League and the recording of a first-ever win of any Philippines football club on the AFC Champions League group stage level," added United City.

"UCFC will now take this opportunity to build the Club's winning football philosophy, with identifying and developing local talents at its heart. Once again, the Club would like to thank Stephan for his contributions to UCFC and wish him all the best on his next career move."

Schrock now becomes the second elite player to leave United City after Spanish-born striker Bienvenido Maranon left early this year to play abroad.
