The Philippine dragon boat racing team Triton reached the grand finals of the 2012 Macau Dragon Boat International competition, placing sixth in the women's 500 meters category in Nam Van Lake in Macau last June 23. Members of the Philippine team went up against strong national teams from China, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, and Singapore, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Wednesday. A DFA news release quoted Rowie Enriquez, the team's officer, as saying the team will also compete next week in Hong Kong for the International Dragon Boat Federation Club Crew World Championship. "The team will be pitted against best club teams around the world in the Standard Boat Women and Mix events for 2000m, 500m, and 200m, and Small Boat Open/Men for 500m and 200m," it said. The Macau International Dragon Boat Race is held annually with the support of the Macau government through the Macau Sport Development Board and the Macau, China Dragon Boat Association. - AMD, GMA News
