The Manila South Softball Team, the girls' team that will compete in the Big League Girls Softball World Series that starts on August 3, got a "good luck" wish from United States Ambassador to Manila Harry Thomas Jr. Members of the softball team that will represent the country in the World Series in Kalamazoo, Michigan met with Thomas on Thursday, the embassy said in a news release Friday. "We wish them luck! Play Ball!" the embassy said (http://manila.usembassy.gov/womansoftball.html). The Filipina athletes recently won the Asia Pacific Big League Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia, and are on their way to Kalamazoo, Michigan this weekend for the World Series. The Big League Girls Softball World Series is one of four “fast pitch” softball World Series tournaments that make up part of the Little League International Tournament. In the Little League International Tournament, local league teams from around the world work to qualify, and compete against the best international teams. "In doing so, they create life-long friends and lasting memories,"the Embassy noted. - AMD, GMA News
