Dennis Orcullo emerged triumphant on Sunday, defeating Chinese-Taipei's Lu Hui Chan, 11-9, to win the 2012 China Open for his first win in a Chinese pro event. "This is a big day for me, a wonderful day. This is the most special win of my career," Orcullo said in a World Pool Association press release. "This trophy is going to go right in the middle of my living room." The 33-year-old Filipino pulled off an impressive comeback, after losing 9-8 in his first group play match. He then had to win twice in the losers' bracket to enter the final round of 32. "I lost my first match 9-8, then I win my next match 9-7, then qualified by winning 9-8. So when I qualified, I had a lot of confidence after that because I played good against good opponents," Orcullo added. In the Finals, Orcullo managed to keep up his good form, taking an early 9-3 lead. However, a feisty Lu was not about to go away, battling back to make it 9-7, and then 10-9. Finally though, the 2011 WPA Player of the Year managed to put his foe away, to claim the cash prize of $40,000. LU, for his efforts, earned $20,000. - AMD, GMA News
