Tiger Woods made a triumphant return atop Forbes magazine's list of 100 highest-paid athletes, with Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao tying rival Floyd Mayweather Jr. at 14th.

The article, which will come out in the print version of the magazine on June 24, says that Woods is on top with $78.1 million dollars in total earnings, $65 million coming from endorsements.

He had previously been number one since 2001, up until last year, when boxer Floyd Mayweather overtook him.

Next on the list is tennis star Roger Federer, with total earnings of $71.5 million. NBA star Kobe Bryant is third ($61.9 million), just ahead of LeBron James ($59.8 million) and NFL quarterback Drew Brees ($51 million).

Pacquiao lands at 14th place with total earnings of $34 million, $8 million coming from endorsements. Mayweather has the same total earnings, but all coming from his salary/winnings.

The online edition of the list notes that an athlete's earnings include "salaries, bonuses, prize money, appearance fees, as well as licensing and endorsement income for the 12 months between June 1, 2012 and June 1, 2013." It adds that taxes or agent's fees are not taken into account. - AMD, GMA News
