PWR Vendetta: Full card preview

The Revonation will remember the fifth of November as the day their favorite PWR stars settled their grudges and plotted their courses for 2018 at Vendetta 2017.

From top to bottom, GMA News Online runs down the card for Vendetta and what fans can look forward to in PWR's last show for the year.

UBUSAN NG LAHI: Team Sy vs. Team Sebastian

After the kerfuffle that happened right at the end of Oktoberplex' lumberjack match, Team Sy finally completed its roster after SANDATA swerved John Sebastian by laying him out with a Kidlat and allowing PWR Champion Chris Panzer to retain his title via Eagle Splash.

While Mr. Sy busies himself with planning for the five-on-five elimination match — to the point of distraction — Sebastian struggles to keep his team together after failing to recruit SANDATA and entice Panzer to his side.

Despite being a fifth member short, Team Sebastian does not lack a unifying motive.

To put it simply, they hate Mr. Sy for supposedly passing them over for opportunities and for other perceived injustices and attacked his "Sy-men" before they joined the general manager to establish their dominance.

(Probably.)

Team Sy, on the other hand, were cobbled together due to individual grievances: Sebastian and Peter Versoza have been a thorn in Fighters 4 Hire's sides since Renaissance; SANDATA was blindsided by Sebastian at Bakbakan sa Bayanihan; Dax Xaviera signed up after MTNH ambushed him in Sugod; and Panzer hasn't quite gotten over his rivalry with Sebastian.

While fans of Team Sy's members will definitely root for them, the question remains: Why fans should cheer for Mr. Sy's boys as a collective aside from wanting their favorites to win?

Mr. Sy's motive of preserving PWR's equal-opportunity nature seemed more presumed than outrightly stated, as opposed to Sebastian's oft-stated goal of seizing all power and meting out his own brand of justice to the roster.

Supporters of Team Sebastian will have those unifying, singular goals to hold on to, while Team Sy advocates are left with a simple sense of "good" and comeuppance for unprovoked attacks to root for.

Whatever their fans might feel, the Revonation can look forward to a hell of a match as these teams compete to determine the future of PWR.

3-WAY PHX CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Mike Madrigal (c) vs. Bolt vs. Zayden Trudeau

Since their spectacular match at Sugod!, Bolt and Trudeau cultivated a healthy amount of respect for each other, which led to the Canadian Dragon saving the Animazing Fighter from a post-match beatdown at Oktoberplex courtesy of Madrigal.

The stand-off at the end led to this triple threat match, which will test the strength of Madrigal's hold on the belt he labored for in the three-day PHX tournament back at APCC.

As Madrigal surely felt in their match, Bolt will be tough competition as the rookie consistently — and visibly — showed improvement since his debut and continues to find ways to use his size to his advantage.

Madrigal will also struggle with Trudeau, who earned a sizable following through his measured aggression and perseverance and the superb despedida he gave "Beautiful" Billy Suede at Oktoberplex.

The clash of styles between the three at Vendetta will no doubt represent what the PHX title is all about, and will surely be the match to watch this November.

3-WAY PWR TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Network (c) vs. Trian Dela Torre and Evan Carleaux vs. KakaiBros

The Network was originally left without an opponent when they triumphed over Dela Torre and Carleaux, in no small part due to the Kakaibros ambushing the latter's posse at the tail end of the match.

But an honest mistake by Mr. Sy led to the Blessed Ones being locked into a title match with the Kakaibros, infuriating Dela Torre and Carleaux enough to badger the general manager online and eventually steal the contract from the uniquely-dressed duo.

These shenanigans produced this three-way title match, which will hopefully make up for the almost-farcical match between The Network and Dela Torre and Carleaux by reigning in each team's penchant for humor and showing more of their not-inconsiderable in-ring abilities.

ALL OUT WAR CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: The Apocalypse (c) vs. Vlad Sinnsyk

This match is a welcome breath of fresh air for The Apocalypse and Vlad Sinnsyk, both of whom have somewhat drifted around aimlessly since their last big feuds. The impending clash between the Apocalypse and Sinnsyk promises to be a proper brawl if Oktoberplex was any indication.

This match will be Apocalypse's first test as the All Out War champion, and it will determine if Sinnsyk's accusation of him being "handed" the title is the truth or an error on part of the Hand of Judgement.

It might be a bit of a stretch, but seeing as both men had menaced him in Sugod! and Oktoberplex, Brad Cruz may take advantage of the match's no-disqualification stipulation to avenge himself and his impeccable Looks at some point in the night.

INTERNATIONAL TAG TEAM SHOWCASE: The YOLO Twins vs. The Regime’s Tengu and Doctor Hertz

After receiving unexpected assistance from Crystal against the Punk Dolls, The YOLO Twins are set to face London Lucha League's The Regime in an international tag team showcase.

Yohann and Logan certainly have what it takes to represent PWR, as they gave spectacular performances in their numerous defenses as the inaugural PWR Tag Team Champions before losing to The Network at APCC last August.

Doctor Hertz and Tengu, The Regime's representatives for November's event, are no slouches either. Tengu is a former London Lucha League World Champion and Doctor Hertz has teamed with fellow Regime member Kraken in the past for title contendership.

What they do have going against them is Ken Warren, who will no doubt be at ringside to cause a spot of bother for The Regime to turn things to the YOLO Twins' favor.

Martivo vs. Crystal

Weeks removed from her betrayal of the Punk Dolls, Crystal is as secretive as she was when she sidelined the pair to allow the YOLO Twins to pick up the win and represent PWR in the international tag team showcase.

The Queen of Asia finalist can no longer leave things at a wink and a smirk at Vendetta as Martivo will no doubt try to shake answers out of her and take revenge for himself and Robynn.

Vintendo vs. McKata

Starting Vendetta will be McKata's attempt to gain the upper hand on Vintendo, who answered the rookie's rhymes at their rap battle in Oktoberplex with a High Score chokeslam.

This match seems to be the last stage for this rivalry between the Raging Gamer and PWR's resident rapper. Hopefully, whoever wins this match can get a boost in January when PWR returns from its holiday break.

PWR Vendetta 2017, powered by Yellow Cab Pizza Co., will be held on November 5, 2:00 pm, at the Power Mac Center Spotlight in Circuit Makati.

Advanced and discounted tickets are now available at Kramer: Toy Warden, The Appraisery, Pauline's Printing, and through PWR's order form and email at pwr.tickets@gmail.com. — AT, GMA News
