After 17 years as a professional mixed martial arts fighter, it's just now that Brandon Vera finds himself to be in the most important fight of his career when he challenges Aung La N Sang for the ONE light heavyweight world title.

Vera, the reigning ONE heavyweight world titleholder, is scheduled to lock horns with the Burmese two-division champion at ONE: Century on October 13 at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.

"I’m very excited to be on the path to fulfilling a lifelong dream of mine to become a titleholder in two divisions. I’m the ONE heavyweight world champion, which I will be until I retire," said Vera.

"Now, I am chasing after the ONE light heavyweight world title against a man who is cut from the same cloth. This bout means more to me than anything else in my career."

Aung La, the reigning champion at middleweight and light heavyweight, says he's been training for half a year to prepare for Vera. He has nothing but praise for the Filipino-American, and merely vowed to showcase his best form yet on fight night.

"I want to thank Brandon Vera for asking me for this fight. I’ve been a big fan of his since I was in college 10 years ago," he revealed.

"I’ve been training for over six months now, and training has gone very well. I hope to put on the best performance of my life this Sunday." — BAP, GMA News
