IN PHOTOS: James Deiparine ends 10-year drought for PHL swimming


After 10 long years, the Philippines has finally won another gold medal in SEA Games swimming.

James Deiparine set a new SEA Games record in the men's 100-meter breaststroke after clocking 1:01.46 to become the first Philippine gold medalist in the SEA Games since Laos 2009, when swimming legends Miguel Molina, Daniel Coakley, and Ryan Arabejo topped the podium.

 

 

Vietnam's Thanh Bao Pham placed second at 1:01.92, while Singapore's Chien Yin Khoo registered 1:01.98 for bronze.

Meanwhile, Remedy Rule clinched silver for the Philippines in the women's 200-meter butterfly event, while veteran Jasmine Alkhaldi scored a bronze in the women's 100m freestyle.
