By JM SIASAT

Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of UFC 249 set to take place on Saturday (Sunday PHL time) at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Florida, USA.

To make things worse, Souza was even able to step on the scale and make weight for the contest a day before the fight. He was slated to share the octagon with Uriah Hall.

The world's top MMA promotion has received criticisms left, right and center after it insisted for the event to take place amidst the pandemic.

Unsurprisingly, Souza was pulled out of the fight after he tested positive for the virus.

The main event was originally scheduled for a world title showdown between UFC lightweight world champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and lightweight interim champ Tony Ferguson but the former had to be replaced by Justin Gaethje after the champ got stuck in his home country, Russia due to the lockdown. — LA, GMA News
