UFC releases statement on Mike Perry's restaurant altercation

The world’s premier mixed martial arts organization UFC has released an official statement regarding one of its fighters Mike Perry, who recently went viral for punching an old man in an altercation.

The less than two minutes long video was uploaded on social media which showed the professional fighter flattening an elderly man as he walked out of the entrance of a restaurant. Insults and derogatory remarks were thrown including the use of the N-word.

UFC insists that Perry’s actions do not represent the company.

Furthermore, the organization revealed that the welterweight pug will seek professional treatment and would not get any offer to step inside the octagon anytime soon.

UFC is aware and troubled by the video that was released last night concerning Mike Perry. The conduct displayed by Perry is not reflective of that of our organization. Perry apologized for his behavior and acknowledged he was disappointed with himself that his actions may have reflected poorly on the UFC. He further acknowledged that he believes he has some issues related to alcohol abuse and has informed UFC that he has committed to immediately seek professional treatment, including substance and behavior counseling. At this time, UFC has informed Perry that he will not be offered a bout, and the parties have agreed to evaluate next steps for Perry following the completion of his treatment program.
