Max Holloway asks his fans to stay calm following controversial decision in UFC 251

Max Holloway is asking his fans to stay calm following his most recent defeat against the current UFC featherweight world champion Alexander Volkanovski in the co-main event of UFC 251.

The former world champion from Hawaii suffered a controversial split decision loss at the hands of Volkanovski this past weekend. It was a decision that many thought was so bad, that even UFC president Dana White criticized the result and attributed it to bad judging.

While the majority felt that it as a fight that Holloway deserved to win, some members of the media believe that it was than what most people think, leading some of Holloway’s fans to dish out threats on social media.

Holloway is having none of it.

“Just landed in Vegas for another quarantine and was told some guys in the media are receiving threats for saying my fight was not a robbery. This is not ok. I appreciate everyone who wants to ride for me but that ain’t it,” Holloway wrote on Twitter.

“Life isn’t fair. It’s even more unfair for many many other people in the world than it will ever be for me. People are unemployed right now with no end in sight and it’s not their fault.”

Before his first loss against Volkanovski in December 2019, Holloway has always been regarded as one of the greatest featherweights in history. And despite his back-to-back defeats to the Australian, Holloway promised his fans that he is the same fighter as before.

“It is what it was. Nothing changed for me as a fighter. We proved our point. I still have my five belts at home. I’m 28 and healthy. Blessed era continues. Bless yourself.” – JM Siasat/RC, GMA News
