POC accredits Philippine Electronic Sports Organization as PHL esports governing body

The Philippine Electronic Sports Organization (PESO) is now officially recognized as the national sports association (NSA) for esports after the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) formalized its accreditation.

The POC released PESO’s certification on Oct. 9, saying it is the “sole recognized NSA and governing body of esports in the Philippines.”

“We are honored and grateful for the trust that the POC placed in us. We embrace this huge responsibility as we continue to support our athletes and push the growth and development of esports in the country,” PESO president Brian Lim said in a statement.

“We also echo POC’s call for unity among esports groups and communities as we all share the same goal to showcase the skills and abilities of Filipino gamers in the world arena and ultimately bring glory to our country,” he added.

The organization also helped in organizing the esports tournament of last year’s Southeast Asian Games by working as technical officials, co-producing and streaming the event, and providing coaching and management for national esports team Sibol.

PESO is also a member of the International Esports Federation. – Justin Kenneth Carandang/RC, GMA News
