Pinoy teams Omega, BREN march into upper bracket of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship

By JOHN EDISON UBALDO

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang pro teams representing the Philippines delivered masterful performances as they swept their respective matches in the group stages of the M2 World Championship to move into the upper bracket of the tournament.

Smart Omega Esports opened Day 1 by sweeping MPL MY/SG Season 6 Champs Todak, 2-0. Omega completely dominated Game 1 and finished their Singaporean counterparts within 12 minutes behind the exploits of 16-year-old Salic "Hadjizy" Imam (Yi Shun Shin).

Seemingly revived by Zikry Bin "Moon" Shamsuddin's early game pickoffs with the Selena, Todak looked poised for a comeback, establishing a 2k-gold lead at the nine-minute mark.

But once again, Hadjizy slowly but surely secured his objectives, helping Omega lord over majority of the map and secure the luminous lord at the 21-minute mark. It resulted to a 4-1 exchange a minute later, which spelled victory for the MPL PH Season 6 runner-up.

Carrying the momentum from their win, Omega then obliterated Cambodia's Impunity KH, 2-0 dropping only a total of seven deaths while securing 34 kills. They finished Game 1 and Game 2 in only 11 minutes and 13 minutes, respectively.

In Day 2, BREN Esports made sure to open the tournament with a bang by shutting out Japan's 10s Gaming Frost, 2-0. The reigning MPL PH Season 6 Champions took control of Game 1 early on and completed a wipe-out at the 14-minute mark to secure their first win.

Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno (Harley), the 16-year-old prodigy considered as one of the best core-users across Southeast Asia, took charge by posting a 13-1-8 kill-death-assist performance.

Game 2 was no different as BREN posted a commanding 9-0 kills lead in the first six minutes of the match. KarlTzy (Lancelot) then completed a savage wipeout at the nine-minute mark as BREN cruised to their first series win in the tournament.

BREN moved on to a much-awaited rematch of last year's MPL Invitational finals with Alter Ego e-sports. Still reeling from their 0-4 finals loss to their Indonesian rivals, BREN came out firing early on with David Charles  "FlapTzy" Canon holding his ground on the gold lane and secured kills for his team.

Not to be outdone, Alter Ego's Eldian Rahadian "Celiboy" Putra was steady with the Ling, getting his pickoffs despite the early game deficit. After a lengthy clash in the mid-lane at the 22-minute mark where both teams lost two members, KarlTzy (Claude) entered the battle after securing the lord and harassed the Alter Ego members with his blazing duet to finally put the opposing defense at bay.

Game 2 was totally different as BREN methodically broke down Alter Ego starting with a superior draft then a commanding early game. KarlTzy (Yi Shun Shin) delivered an almost perfect performance with a 5-1-9 kill-death-assist to help his team secure their place in the upper bracket.
