Filipina weightlifter Vanessa Sarno reigned supreme in the women's 71-kg category of the Asian Weightlifting Championships held on Wednesday in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Sarno bagged the gold medal for the event after lifting a total of 229 kg.
Turkmenistan's Gulnabat Kadyrova came in second with 223 kg, while Yekaterina Bykova placed third with 213 kg.
Sarno won another gold for topping the clean and jerk after lifting 128 kg. She also got a silver medal for her 101 kg lift in the snatch, behind Gulnabat's 102 kg.
The Philippines has a total of two gold medals, six silvers, and one bronze from the tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Elreen Ando bagged two silvers and one bronze while Mary Flor Diaz got three silvers.
Olympian Hidilyn Diaz fell short in the 55-kg event, but her participation in the tournament officially qualified her for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. —Justin Kenneth Carandang/JMB, GMA News
