Pinay weightlifter Elreen Ando qualifies for Tokyo Olympics


The Philippines now has 11 athletes going to the Tokyo Olympics!

Filipina weightlifter Elreen Ando has qualified for the Tokyo Olympics via the continental quota for the women's minus-64 kilograms division, the International Weightlifting Federation announced Saturday morning.

In the list, the Cebuana lifter is currently at 12th place, making her the newest member of the Philippine contingent that already features EJ Obiena (pole vault), Carlos Yulo (gymnastics), Hidilyn Diaz (weightlifting) and Eumir Marcial, Irish Magno, Carlo Paalam, Nesthy Petecio (boxing), Cris Nievarez (rowing), Kurt Barbosa (taekwondo), and Margielyn Didal (skateboarding).

The young lifter is also fresh from copping a pair of silver medals and a bronze in the 2020 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Uzbekistan.
