Hidilyn Diaz, Carlos Yulo meet in Tokyo ahead of Olympics opening

Two of the Philippines' strongest contenders in the Tokyo Olympics met in the Olympic Village on Monday, days ahead of the opening ceremony scheduled on July 23.

In an Instagram post, 2016 Rio Olympics weightlifting silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz shared a photo of her with 2019 World Gymnastics champion Carlos Yulo.

"Sana mahaba ang usapan natin Champ @c_edrielzxs," Diaz wrote in the caption.

Diaz also wished Yulo luck in his upcoming competition.

 

 

"Kaya mo yan. Please include Caloy in your prayers," she added.

The gymnastics and weightlifting competitions will start on July 24.

Aside from Diaz and Yulo who arrived over the weekend along with other members of the Philippine delegation, swimmer Remedy Rule also gave a sneak peek of her quarters in the Olympic Village.

 


A total of 19 athletes from the Philippines will compete in this year's Summer Games.
