Alex Eala returns to ITF juniors world no. 2

Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala has returned to juniors world no. 2, according to the latest rankings released by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) on Monday.

Eala climbed a spot in the rankings after her singles and doubles victory in the JA Trofeo Bonfiglio tournament last week.

The 16-year old now has 2,786.25 points, around 200 points lower than world no. 1 Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva of Andorra. Elsa Jacquemot of France slipped to the third spot of the rankings.

Eala previously reached the no. 2 spot back in October 2020, before ending the year at world no. 3.

Aside from the two titles in Italy, Eala also won the French Open Juniors doubles championship with Russia's Oksana Selekhmeteva last June.

In 2020, Eala also bagged the Australian Open Juniors doubles title with Priska Madelyn Nugroho of Indonesia.

In her professional competitions, Eala won the W15 Manacor early this year.

She is currently ranked no. 634 in the Women's Tennis Association singles rankings, while she is placed no. 1786 at the ITF women's rankings.
