Margielyn Didal proud to be able to represent PH in Tokyo Olympics: 'This is for the country'

Filipina skateboarder Margielyn Didal dedicated to the Philippines her performance in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

"This is for the country. I'm really proud to represent the Philippines," Didal said in a statement after her finals appearance in the women's street skate event on Monday.

Skate Pilipinas president Carl Sambrano, meanwhile, said he is amazed that the Philippines has an Olympian skateboarder.

"So stoked, may Olympian skateboarder po tayo, Paris 2024 we coming at you!" Sambrano said in a statement.

Aside from reaching the finals, Didal also won the hearts of many with her positive attitude during the course of the tournament.

Didal finished seventh in the tourney after getting a score of 7.52.

Japanese sensation Nishiya Momiji bagged the gold, while Brazil's Rayssa Leal won the silver. Another Japanese national, Nakayama Funa, settled for bronze.
