Hidilyn Diaz: 'I can't believe I'm a gold medalist in the Olympics'

Hidilyn Diaz has posted on social media for the first time since her historic Olympic win, and she's nothing but grateful.

On Instagram, the Filipina weightlifter shared a fierce photo of herself wearing a jersey with "Philippines" written on it, and expressed her disbelief over what she's achieved.

("I can't believe I'm here at the Olympics. I can't believe that the Olympics pushed through. I can't believe that TeamHD is here. I can't believe that I'm a gold medalist in the Olympics.")

Diaz also thanked those who helped her in her journey to gold.

("If it were just me, I wouldn't have been able to do it, it seems impossible. Thank you God for the things people sent, government support, private support, my family, friends, and prayer warriors who allowed me to achieve this and made this possible.")

Diaz bagged the country's first-ever gold medal in the Olympics after winning the women's 55-kg weightlifting event of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Monday at the Tokyo International Forum.

Her historic win ended a near century-long Olympic gold medal drought since the Philippines first competed in the games in 1924. —JCB, GMA News
