Hidilyn Diaz receives P10 million cash incentive from MVP Sports Foundation

2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz has received the cash incentive pledged by the MVP Sports Foundation.

In a release, MVPSF revealed that P10 million was deposited to Diaz' personal account on Thursday.

Diaz met with MVPSF, including sports patron Manuel V. Pangilian, and sports officials Al Panlilio and Ricky Vargas, in a Zoom call and thanked them, not only for the incentive, but for the support she received during her training.

"Malaking bagay po ito sa amin. Lalo na last year na shaky yung life, ang daming pangyayari dahil sa COVID, hindi niyo kami iniwan," Diaz said.

"Thank you so much sa support. Nung humingi kami ng tulong, nandoon kayo. And tuloy-tuloy po yun tulong na binibigay niyo," she added.

"Maraming salamat po sa tiwalang binibigay ng MVPSF sa akin at sa Team HD."

Diaz had been away from her family for over a year as she trained in Malaysia in preparation for the Olympics. During the call, Pangilinan also offered to bring Diaz' family over to Manila from Zamboanga so that they could have their reunion earlier. The Olympian is still completing her mandatory quarantine since arriving from Japan on Wednesday.

The MVPSF has been supporting national athletes through the National Sports Associations since 2011, helping with things like overseas trainings, personal allowances, and other expenses.
