Gary Bejino misses freestyle finals of Tokyo Paralympics

Gary Bejino failed to advance to the medal round of the men's 400m freestyle event of the Tokyo Paralympics at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre on Thursday.

The budding Filipino para-swimmer clocked 5 minutes and 52.28 seconds to finish dead last among six swimmers in Heat 1, and his output placed him last as well after all heats.

He was 46 seconds behind top seed Talisson Henrique Glock of Brazil, who registered 5:06.28.

Only the best eight swimmers across all heats will earn the right to play in the final round slated for later tonight.

This is Bejino's third event as he had already seen action in the individual medley and butterfly events but failed to advance to the final round of both.

He is still set to compete in the men's 100m backstroke S6 on September 3, Friday, to wrap up his maiden campaign in Tokyo. —JCB, GMA News
