EJ Obiena finishes in joint second with KC Lightfoot in World Athletics Continental Tour

Ahead of the Diamond League finals, Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena secured another podium finish in the World Athletics Continental Tour in Stadion Slaski, Chorzow, Poland, Sunday.

Obiena cleared the 5.80-meter mark in two tries to finish in joint second, alongside USA's KC Lightfoot.

American Christopher Nilsen topped the tournament with 5.86 meters.

Prior to the tournament, Obiena finished 10th in the Allianz Memorial Van Damme in Brussels, Belgium.

The Filipino Olympian is set to compete in the Diamond League finals in Zurich, Switzerland on September 8 and 9, alongside some of the world's best pole vaulters such as Olympic gold medalist Armand Duplantis, American Sam Kendricks, and France's Renaud Lavillenie.
