Alex Eala drops to No. 3 in junior world rankings

Alex Eala has dropped one spot in the latest International Tennis FEderation (ITF) world junior rankings following her participation in the 2021 US Open.

The Filipina teen tennis sensation is now back at no. 3 after reaching the second spot last July following her singles and doubles victory in the JA Trofeo Bonfiglio event.

The 16-year-old netter now has 2,643 points behind top ranked Victoria Jimenez Kasinteva of Andorra and second-placer Robin Montgomery of the United States, who recently won the girls' singles title in the US Open.

Kasinteva boasts 3,154.75 points while Montgomery has 2,766.25 across 14 events played.

Eala had a tough showing in the US Open where she bowed out of contention in the singles quarterfinals against Sebastianna Scilipoti.

She was able to reach the semifinal round of the doubles event with Belgian partner Hanne Vandewinkel but the duo fell to home bets Elvina Kalieva and Reese Brantmier.
