Sweet revenge for Onic with reverse sweep of RSG in MPL PH S8

Onic Philippines avenged their first round loss to RSG Philippines via a reverse sweep, 2-1, in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 8 on Saturday.

Already assured of the second spot in the playoffs, Onic Philippines did not let up as they handed RSG their 4th straight loss while taking their 9th series win in 13 matches.

RSG easily manhandled Onic in Game 1, taking a 2k gold lead by the 5th minute on a 6-2 kill spread.

They quickly expanded the lead to 3k by the 9th minute, followed by a lord take after a 3-0 wipe. Another 3-0 execution in the 11th minute, gave them the lead, 1-0.

RSG finished the match with a 15-4 kill domination with John Cedrix “Demonkite” Caranto (Ling), 4-0-7 KDA, and Arvie “Aqua” Calderon (Pharsa), 6-0-0 KDA, leading the way.

Onic was not to be outdone though as they turned an early 2k net worth deficit in Game 2 into a 2k gold lead by the 9th minute courtesy of Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol's (Hayabusa) exploits, who was at a 4-0-2 KDA at that point.

The second-running Onic steadied the ship from there and used a 16th minute luminous lord take to score the equalizer, 1-1.

Onic then slowly broke down RSG in Game 3, taking an inhibitor turret by midgame, and using a 12th minute lord to complete the reverse sweep.

Kairi's (Hayabusa) mechanical brilliance was in full display as he executed superb outplays one after another en route to finishing with a 9-1-4 KDA. Marky “Markyyy” Capacio (Pharsa) provided ample support with a 4-1-7 KDA.

Although reeling from consecutive losses, the Game 1 win propelled RSG into the playoffs as the 6th placer in the regular season, eliminating world champions Bren Esports from the playoff race.
