Sofia Frank finishes fifth in short program of Tallinn Trophy

Filipino-American figure skater Sofia Frank wound up fifth in the short program of the 2021 Tallinn Trophy held on Wednesday night at the Tondiraba Ice Hall in Tallinn, Estonia.

The 16-year-old Frank scored 50.64 in the eight-woman field, where Josefin Taljegard of Sweden finished at top spot with 59.17. Olivia Lisko of Finland (55.27) and Emelie Ling of Sweden (53.91) were at second and third spots, respectively.

Frank nailed 27.64 in technical element score while carving out 24.00 in the program component score while also incurring a penalty of 1.00 en route to her total score.

Frank's latest output was 2.66 points lower than her 53.30 short program finish at the Finlandia Trophy last month, where she shattered a national record for women's figure skating after garnering a total of 148.09 points.

She will be back on ice in the free skate event later at 10:43 p.m. (Manila time).
