SEA Games chefs de mission to meet as preps continue for Hanoi games

The chefs de mission of member nations of the Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) will meet in early January as the organizers of the 31st Southeast Asian Games continue their preparation for the biennial meet.

SEAG Philippine mission chief and Philippine Sports Commission commissioner Ramon Fernandez is set to fly to Hanoi along with deputies Atty. Alberto Agra of obstacle sports and Pearl Managuelod of Muay Thai for the chefs' face-to-face meeting, the first to be organized by host Vietnam.

Philippine Olympic Committee president Bambol Tolentino believes Vietnam is ready to host the Games.

“Although the SEA Games are just months away, we believe the hosts are doing everything for a successful hosting,” said Tolentino. “They’re prepared, because if not for the pandemic, the Games should have been done and over with this time.”

The Philippines plans to send more than 600 athletes which will compete in 29 of 30 sports in the regional showcase which will be held on May 12 to 23.
